He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Fred Hiller, this village; Mrs. C. L. Heran, Ellwood, N. J; and Mrs. Howard Carroll, Niagara Falls; two sons, George and Arthur of Sherrill; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Prowton of Sherrill; and Mrs. James Williams, Niagara Falls.

         He was born in England, Aug. 9, 1859 and had been employed here as a silver polisher. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Annie Prowton; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Worthington, Toronto; two step-sons, Herbert Everett and William Everett, both of Sherrill; also several grandchildren.
         He attended Gethsemane Episcopal Church.
  • The following appeared on 25 September 1948 in the Rome Daily Sentinel: (Sherrill) Mrs. Joseph Prowton, Hansom Ave., was honored at her home on Sept. 15 when she celebrated her 84th birthday. Refreshments were served, including a birthday cake, and she received many gifts.
  • The following appeared on 22 September 1950 in the Rome Daily Sentinel: (Sherrill) Mrs. Annie Prowton, Ransom Ave., was tendered a surprise party in honor of her 86th birthday, at her home on Friday afternoon, Sept. 15. She was the recipeint of many cards, flowers and gifts. Refreshments were served which featured a decorated cake with candles. Guests present were Mrs. W. Wettel, Mrs. John H. Ray, Mrs. Stanley Krzysanowski and Mrs. Andrew Cameron.

  • Annie Laing died in May 1952 at age 87.
