  • The following appeared on 4 April 1922 in The Bradford Era: Hayes Simpson of Tulsa, Okla., who spent his Easter vacation with his aunt, Miss Jane Markham of Congress street, has returned from Port Deposit, Md., where he is a student at Tome school.
  • The following appeared on 9 July 1926 in The Bradford Era: The body of Thomas A. Simpson, whose death occurred in Washington, D. C., Tuesday, will arrive in Olean this morning. The interment will take place Saturday. Mr. Simpson was secretary of the United States of America General Claims Commission and has resided in Washington for the past two years. He is survived by his widow, Mabel Markham Simpson, and one son, Thomas A. Simpson, Jr., and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Simpson of Olean. Miss Jane Markham of Congress street, of this city, will leave this morning for Olean to meet the funeral party.

  • Thomas Hayes Simpson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 319 West Ninth Street. Other members of the household included Mabel Emily Markham.

  • The following appeared on 18 December 1931 in The Bradford Era: Mr. and Mrs. John H. Markham, Jr., Walter Markham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Markham, Mrs. Mabel Simpson and son, Hayes Simpson, and Stephen Markham, all of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Winifred Washabaugh and son, Theodore, of Wichita, Kan., who were here to attend the funeral for their father, John H. Markham, have returned to their homes.

They have made their home here at 320 D street southwest. Mr. Simpson is connected with the Sinclair-Prairie Oil company.
  • The following appeared on 9 October 1936 in The Bradford Era: An October wedding of interest will take place this morning in the Holy Family Cathedral, Tulsa, Okla., when Miss Irene Colligan, well known Bradford girl, becomes the bride of Hayes Simpson, son of Mrs. Thomas A. Simpson of Tulsa.
         The bride will be lovely in a coronation red velvet model, empire style. The only trimming on the wedding gown will be a rhinestone neck clip and a matching buckle at the waistline. Her jacket is princess style, with a shirred waistline and a perky bow in the back. Her May Wine chiffon felt hat is trimmed with imported feather flowers.
         A wedding breakfast will be served to 50 guests afterward at the Hotel Tulsa. For her going away costume, the bride has chosen a rust colored wool suit, trimmed with mole and a brown hat and accessories.
         When they return from their wedding trip to Texas, the couple will reside at 630 North Park avenue, Shawnee, Okla.
         Miss Colligan has been honored at a series of pre-nuptial parties. She is a graduate of the Bradford High school and has been identified with the L. E. Mallory and son offices for some time. Mr. Simpson, who has often visited here, attended Notre Dame university and is employed by the Sinclair Prairie company, He is a grandson of the late John H. Markham, pioneer oil producer.

  • The following appeared on 2 February 1939 in The Bradford Era: Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Simpson of Shawnee, Okla., are the parents of a daughter, born yesterday afternoon in Shawnee. Mrs. Simpson formerly was Miss Irene Colligan of Bradford.
  • Thomas Hayes Simpson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana, at 910 Bellemeade Avenue. Other members of the household included Irene Colligan and Mabel Emily Markham. In 1935 Thomas and his mother were living in Enid, Oklahoma, and Irene in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
  • He was employed as an oil scout in the wholesale oil production business, according to the 1940 census.
  • The following appeared on 30 September 1940 in The Bradford Era: Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Simpson of Evansville, Ind., are the parents of a daughter born Saturday in Oklahoma City, Okla. Mrs. Simpson is the former Miss Irene Colligan of this city.
  • The following appeared on 8 February 1941 in the Olean Times-Herald: Mrs. Mary Cannon Simpson, widow of the late W. H. Simpson who served as Mayor of Olean during 1914 and 1915 and who for many years was a business and civic leader of this city, died suddenly at her home, 235 North Second Street, Friday night at eleven o'clock.
         Mrs. Simpson had not recently been in poor health and death was unexpected.
         Born at Port Colborne, Ont., Canada, Mrs. Simpson had lived in this city for the past sixty-three years. Although prominently known, her activities were limited to the interests of her family and her only public office was that of vice-president of the firm of W. H. Simpson, Inc., which post she held at the time of her death.
         Mr. Simpson, founder of the firm and one of Olean's pioneer business leaders passed away July 1, [sic] 1929. Three sons born to Mr. and Mrs. Simpson have also all passed away.
         Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. C. W. Stackhouse, this city; two grandsons, T. Hayes Simpson, Tulsa, Okla., and W. Richard Simpson, Wellsville, and a niece, Mrs. Joseph Reeb, Port Colborne, Ont.
         Funeral services will be held at the home Monday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock. The Very Rev. Joseph Groves, rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery.
  • The following appeared on 18 July 1942 in The Bradford Era: Word has been received here of the birth of twin sons to Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Simpson in the St. Marys hospital in Evanston, /[sic/] Ind. Mrs. Simpson is the former Irene Colligan of this city. The boys have been named Tom and John.
  • The following appeared on 30 August 1950 in The Bradford Era: Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Simpson and children, Oklahoma City, Okla., will leave today for their home after a visit with Mrs. Simpson's brother, Tom R. Colligan, Jefferson St.
  • Thomas Hayes Simpson died in January 1979 at age 75.
  • Irene Colligan became a widow at his death.
  • He was interred at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
