  • Mabel Emily Markham became a widow at the 6 July 1926 death of her husband Thomas Arthur Simpson.
  • The following appeared on 9 July 1926 in The Bradford Era: The body of Thomas A. Simpson, whose death occurred in Washington, D. C., Tuesday, will arrive in Olean this morning. The interment will take place Saturday. Mr. Simpson was secretary of the United States of America General Claims Commission and has resided in Washington for the past two years. He is survived by his widow, Mabel Markham Simpson, and one son, Thomas A. Simpson, Jr., and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Simpson of Olean. Miss Jane Markham of Congress street, of this city, will leave this morning for Olean to meet the funeral party.
  • The following appeared on 10 July 1926 in The Bradford Era: J. H. Markham, Sr., of Wichita, Kan., arrived in Bradford last night, owing to the death of his son-in-law, Thomas A. Simpson, whose funeral takes place in Olean today.
  • The following appeared on 21 August 1929 in The Bradford Era: Mrs. Mabel Markham and son, Hayes, of Tulsa, Okla., arived yesterday by motor, and are guests of the Misses Markham, of 151 Congress street.
  • Thomas Hayes Simpson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 319 West Ninth Street. Other members of the household included Mabel Emily Markham.
  • The following appeared on 12 December 1931 in The Bradford Era: John H. Markham, sr., 86, pioneer oil producer, and prominent resident of this city for 50 years, died last night at 6:16 o'clock at his home in Congress street after a two-year illness.
         Mr. Markham was born in Tipperary, Ireland, August 17, 1845, and came to this country at an early age. Mr. Markham came to Bradford with Mrs. Markham, who passed away fourteen years ago, from Karnes City, and located at 151 Congress street, the location of the present homestead.
         He engaged in the oil business and had extensive holdings in the Bradford field. Later he owned a refinery in Robinson, Ill., and engaged in the oil business in Oklahoma and Peabody, Kan., always maintaining a residence here. Mr. Markham was a member of the St. Bernard church.
         Surviving are six daughters, Misses Jane, Camilla and Lillian Markham of this city; Mrs. Mable Simpson of Tulsa; Mrs. Winifred Washabaugh of Wichita, Kan; three sons, John H., jr., Robert E. and Walter S. Markham, all of Tulsa; a brother, Stephen Markham of Tulsa; and a number of grandchildren of Tulsa and Wichita.
         Funeral services will be announced later.

Markham, Jr., Walter Markham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Markham, Mrs. Mabel Simpson and son, Hayes Simpson, and Stephen Markham, all of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Winifred Washabaugh and son, Theodore, of Wichita, Kan., who were here to attend the funeral for their father, John H. Markham, have returned to their homes.
  • The following appeared on 23 February 1933 in the McKean County Democrat: John H. Markham, 56, of Tulsa, Okla., husband of the former Maude Clayson, of Kane, died last Friday night in the Mercy hospital at Chicago following a brief illness of pneumonia, it was learned here.
         Markham, a former Bradford resident, had been a leader in the American oil industry for the past thirty years. He was president of the Petroleum Corporation of America, a $1,000,000 investment trust.
         With him when he died were his wife and three children.
         The funeral was held Monday in Tulsa.
         Mr. Markham was born in Karns City, near Oil City, coming to this county at an early age. He attended the Bradford schools. About 25 years ago he went into the West where he became eminently successful in the oil industry.
         A member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Catholic church, Mr. Markham was widely known for his activity in the work of his church. He was one of 18 men to be received into knighthood in a National Council of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre at ceremonies held in St. Patrick's cathedral, New York City, in 1931.
         Mr. Markham is survived by his wife, a son, John Henry Markham, III; a daughter, Miss Marjorie Markham, at home; another daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Freese, of Tulsa; six sisters, Miss Frances Markham, of New York City, Misses Lillian and Jane of Bradford; Mrs. Thomas Simpson, of Tulsa; Mrs. Winifred Washabaugh, of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. C. W. Updegrave, of Corry; two brothers, Walter Markham, of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert E. Markham, of Tulsa, Okla. One grandchild also survives.
  • The following appeared on 14 June 1936 in The Daily Ardmoreite: Mrs. T. A. Simpson and son, Mr. Hayes Simpson, are moving to Shawnee after a brief sojourn in Ardmore, where they came from Tulsa. They have made their home here at 320 D street southwest. Mr. Simpson is connected with the Sinclair-Prairie Oil company.
  • The following appeared on 9 October 1936 in The Bradford Era: An October wedding of interest will take place this morning in the Holy Family Cathedral, Tulsa, Okla., when Miss Irene Colligan, well known Bradford girl, becomes the bride of Hayes Simpson, son of Mrs. Thomas A. Simpson of Tulsa.
         The bride will be lovely in a coronation red velvet model, empire style. The only trimming on the wedding gown will be a rhinestone neck clip and a matching buckle at the waistline. Her jacket is princess style, with a shirred waistline and a perky bow in the back. Her May Wine chiffon felt hat is trimmed with imported feather flowers.
         A wedding breakfast will be served to 50 guests afterward at the Hotel Tulsa. For her going away costume, the bride has chosen a rust colored wool suit, trimmed with mole and a brown hat and accessories.
         When they return from their wedding trip to Texas, the couple will reside at 630 North Park avenue, Shawnee, Okla.
         Miss Colligan has been honored at a series of pre-nuptial parties. She is a graduate of the Bradford High school and has been identified with the L. E. Mallory and son offices for some time. Mr. Simpson, who has often visited here, attended Notre Dame university and is employed by the Sinclair Prairie company, He is a grandson of the late John H. Markham, pioneer oil producer.
  • Thomas Hayes Simpson appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana, at 910 Bellemeade Avenue. Other members of the household included Mabel Emily Markham, Irene Colligan. In 1935 Thomas and his mother were living in Enid, Oklahoma, and Irene in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
  • The following appeared on 9 May 1940 in The Bradford Era: Mrs. Mabel Markham Simpson of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Bradford, was registered at the Holley hotel in Bradford, enroute to Gowanda yesterday.
  • The SSDI lists Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma, as the last residence of record of Mabel Emily Markham.
  • Mabel Emily Markham died on 15 January 1968 at age 87.
  • She was interred at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
