- The following appeared on 5 May 1908 in The Montgomery Advertiser: (Uniontown, May 4) Mrs. Mary Peguese Irby, wife of Christopher P. Irby, died Sunday afternoon after a long and painful illness.
She leaves her husband and five children, Mrs. James B. Chambers, Mrs. B. F. Hatch, Jr., and Misses Annie Irby and Mary Irby, of this place, and Chris P. Irby of Atlanta. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Sam Pegues and her family in Selma.
The remains were buried here today.
