  • The following appeared on 13 December 1939 in The Morning Herald: Mrs. Minnie Barron Ormiston, 84, widow of Charles A. Ormiston, resident of this city for more than 50 years, died at 9:50 yesterday morning at the home of her son, Kenneth O. Ormiston of 116 First avenue. She had been seriously ill about six weeks.
         Mrs. Ormiston was born March 11, 1855 in Dundee, Scotland, where she resided until 17 years old, when she came to this country and made her home in Gouverneur. Fifty-eight years ago she came to Gloversville and since had been a resident.
         Mrs. Ormiston was a member of the First Presbyterian church and the church and her home had been her great life interests. She enjoyed excellent health until recently which permitted her to take an active part in the work of her church. She was affiliated with Home and Foreigh Missionary society and treasurer of the group for over 40 years. Her interests were divided among other groups in the same church and she was one of its most interested members and workers.
         The survivors are three sons, Keith E. Ormiston of Oneonta, Kenneth O. of this city, and Donald S. of Schenectady; also four grand children, David Collins Ormiston, a student at Pawling; Jean Ormiston, of Oakwood school at Poughkeepsie; Phyllis Ormiston at home and Mrs. Milon Bundy of Huntington, L. I. Two great grandchildren also survive.
         The body was taken to the Walrath and Bushouer funeral home where the funeral will be held this evening at 7. The Rev. William C. Spicer of the First Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial will be made Thursday at Gouverneur.
