- The following appeared in the Utica Daily Press: (South Trenton) At her home in Syracuse, Friday Morning, January 4, occurred the death of Mrs. Deborah Cady Brown, aged nearly 91 years. Mrs. Brown was a native of Vermont, coming to South Trenton with her husband Elisha Cady, in the 40's, and making this their home until his death, which occurred about the close of the Civil War. Later, she became the wife of Harris Brown of this place, with whom she lived happily until his death some years after. Her home for several years had been with her granddaughter Mrs. Harry Gordon of Syracuse, at whose residence her death occurred. It can be truly said of her that she went about doing good. In cases of sickness and death, she was always called upon and always responded. She became a member of the Presbyterian Church in this place and lived a consistent Christian life. Her death was due to old age, and she was ready to go. She leaves a son, Sidney H. Cady of Springfield, Mass., three grandchildren, Clinton and Luther Cady and Mrs. Florence Gordon of Syracuse, and several great grandchildren. Her funeral was held from the church in South Trenton. . . .
