- He married Augusta Sierk, daughter of Henry Sierk and Elsabe Oldswager, on 27 December 1905 in Wyoming County, New York, near Attica, a double wedding with August's sister Emma.
- The following appeared on 28 December 1905 in The Daily News: At the home of Henry Sierk yeterday, three miles south of Attica, his two younger daughters were married, Miss Augusta to Charles Johnson of Bennington and Emma to Walter Schlenker, an Attica widower whose 12 children were present at the wedding.

- The following appeared on 3 December 1936 in The Attica News: Mrs. Augusta Sierk Johnson died at her home on Elm street, late Wednesday evening. She had been ill for quite some time. Mrs. Johnson was born August 15, 1871, to Henry and Elsabe Oldswager Sierk of Bennington. On Dec. 27, 1905, she was united in marriage to Charles B. Johnson, and has lived in the vicinity of Attica.
Surviving Mrs. Johnson besides her husband, are two daughters, Margaret at home, and Mrs. Lucius Davis of Varysburg; three sisters, Mrs. John Schlenker, Mrs. Charles Ripstein Sr., and Mrs. Anna VanValkenburg, all of Attica; three brothers, Henry and Fred Sierk of Attica and George Sierk of Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral services will be held from the late home at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, with Rev. W. Duncan Gordon officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. - Charles B. Johnson died on 9 June 1949 at age 76 in Varysburg, Wyoming County, New York.

- The following appeared on 16 June 1949 in the Western New-Yorker / Wyoming County Times: Charles B. Johnson, 76, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Lucius B. Davis, Varysburg on Thursday, June 9, 1949 after being in failing health for several years. He was born in Bennington January 1, 1873 the son of John and Laura Caulkins Johnson. He attended Attica high school and graduated in 1895 one of the class of 8 graduates. He was a skilled carpenter and worked in his trade in and around Attica for many years.
On December 28, 1905 he was united in marriage to Augusta Sierk who died on December 2, 1936.
He is survived by 2 daughters Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Modlin Seligman of Attica, 2 grandchildren Barbara and William Seligman, one brother Leon of Geneseo and 4 sisters Mrs. Harriet Ehaney, Misses Bertha and Iva Johnson, all of Geneseo, and Mrs. George Meisner of Lapeer, Michigan.
Funeral services were held at the Marley funeral home in Attica on Sunday, June 12 at 2:30 PM with the Rev. Frank Terrell pastor of the Varysburg community church officiating with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
