Beekman D. Staats was born in August 1840 in New York.
Beekman Staats appears on a list of persons subject ot military duty in the 25th Congressional District of New York during June 1863. He is identified as an unmarried farmer, age 22.
He married Catharine Fisher, daughter of Christopher Fisher and Nancy Hammond, circa 1872.
Catharine Fisher became a widow at his death.
Beekman D. Staats died on 7 May 1918 at age 77 in Geneva, Ontario County, New York.
He was interred at Sand Hill Cemetery, Seneca, Ontario County, New yOrk.
The following appeared on 7 May 1918 in the Geneva Daily Times: Beekman D Staats of Nellis avenue died this morning about 2 o'clock following a lingering illness. The only survivor is his wife. Mr. Staats was for years a contractor and builder in this city, but has been retired for some time. The announcement of the funeral arrangements will be made later.
The following appeared on 9 May 1918 in the Geneva Daily Times: The funeral of Beekman D. Staats, who died Tuesday morning at his home on Nellie avenue, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house. It is expected that Dr. P. H. Riegel will have charge. Interment will be made in Sand Hill Cemetery.
