         Born in Niagara Falls, he lived in this city until seven years ago when he moved to Youngstown. He was married to the former Esther Donaby in 1903.
         A coal dealer for about 50 years at Whirlpool Street, Mr. Shipston was president of the Tiger Supply Co., which he started about 1925. For about 30 years he was interested in farming and had a cattle farm at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
         Mr. Shipstoln was a member of the old Ongiara Club. He served as a city councilman from 1924 to 1928.
         He was a member of Niagara River Lodge 132, F&AM.
         Besides his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edith Whaley and Miss Esther Anne Shipston, both of Youngstown, and Mrs. Ruth Hulst of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, George W. Shipston of this city and Thomas D. Shipston of Snyder; three brothers, Fred Shipston of this city, Edmund Shipston of North Tonowanda and George Shipston of Somerville, N.J., and six grandchildren.
         Funeral services will be at the Cornell and Daggett Chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. John E. Wickenden of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany officiating. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
         The funeral home will be open after 2 p.m. Thursday.
  • The following appeared on 6 December 1969 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Mrs. Esther Anne Shipston, 92, of Lake Road, Youngstown, died Friday night (Dec. 5, 1969) in Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness
         She was born in Albany and came to this city in 1887 and married her husband, the late Clark Shipston in 1901. He died in 1961.
         He was for former owner of the Tiger Supply Co., which is now operated by his son.
         She was a member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church.
         She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edith Whaley, Miss Esther Ann Shipston, both of Youngstown; and Mrs. Ruth Hulst, of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Thomas D. Shipston of Snyder, and George William Shipston of this city; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
         Funeral services will be held in the Cornell and Daggett Chapel Monday at 11 a.m., the Rev. John E. Wickenden officiating. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.

         He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, January 23, 1918, the son of Clark and Esther Ann [Donaby] Shipston. Mr. Shipston graduated from Niagara Falls High School.
         He was involved with the family business, the Tiger Supply Company, a building supplier, which his father had started, where he worked from a youth until becoming the owner and operator of the Company, retiring in 1980.
         Mr. Shipston was the family Mr. Fix-it, according to his daughter. He was an avid sportsman , enjoyed gardening and listening to music.
         He is survived by his wife Leona [Kane] Shipston of Lewiston, they were married on January 18, 1941, two daughters Georgia Lee Davis of San Antonio, TX and JoAnn (Edwin) Kerins of Niagara Falls, NY, one brother Thomas Shipston of Snyder, NY, one daughter in law Sheila Shipston of Eleanor, WV, special niece of Patricia Ocejo of Lewiston, NY, also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
         He was the father of the late David C. Shipston, brother of the late Richard, Esther Ann Shipston, Edith Whaley, Ruth Hultz and Alice Amy Shipston.
  • The following appeared on 28 August 2004 in The Buffalo News: Services for George W. Shipston, a former building supply company owner, will be held at 8 p.m. today in Rhoney Funeral Home, Cayuga and South Ninth streets. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
         The Youngstown resident died Wednesday in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was 86.
         Born in Niagara Falls, he was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
         He worked for his father's building supply business, Tiger Supply Co., until he became the owner and operator, retiring in 1980.
         Mr. Shipston was a sportsman, and enjoyed gardening and listening to music. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Leona Kane; two daughters, Georgia Lee Davis of San Antonio, Texas, and JoAnn Kerins of Niagara Falls; a brother, Thomas of Snyder; and eight grandchildren.
