James D. Frank

         . . . Estate of Jacob J. Frank late of Villenova, deceased. Letters of administration issued to Margaret Frank and James D. Frank. . . .

  • The following appeared on 19 January 1898 in The Post: (Salamanca) Mrs. S. Rickards of Great Valley visited her parents James D. Frank and wife, several days last week.
  • James D. Frank died on 24 April 1904 at age 72 in Great Valley, Cattaraugus County, New York, at his residence.
  • Betsey (?) became a widow at his death.
  • He was interred at Sugartown Cemetery, Sugartown, Cattaraugus County, New York.
  • The following appeared on 4 May 1904 in The Post: Died at his residence at Great Valley, Apr. 24th, after a sixteen days' illness of pneumonia, James D. Frank.
         Mr. Frank was born in the town of Ashford, Mar. 5, 1832. Of a family of twelve children one brother and three sisters are left. He was married to Miss Sarah E. Weber of Ashford, Feb. 2nd, 1858. She passedo over to the better land, Jan. 6, 1878. To them were born five children. Carrie died in infancy, The four living, Mrs. Hattie Moore of Sugartown; Mrs. Addie Rickards of Great Valley; Arthur J. Frank of Sugartown; and Fred E. Frank of Eldred, were all with him during his last illness.
         June 5, 1879, Mr. Frank married Mrs. Betsey E. Root of Franklinville, who survives him and has been to him a faithful wife and loving mother to his children.
         All that loyal, loving hearts could prompt and willing hands could do, was done for him as he made the long, brave fight for life.
         Mr. Frank confessed Christ and united with the U. B. church at Ashford many years ago.
         The funeral services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Mr. Fullum at the U. B. church at Great Valley, Wednesday afternoon, Apr. 27th. Interment at Sugartown beside his wife and little daughter.
