- Father: Johann Gottlieb Walter b. 1 October 1791, d. 28 September 1853
- Mother: Johanna Stump b. 2 January 1793, d. 8 November 1854
- Barbara Walter was born on 26 September 1823 in Machtolsheim, Württemberg.
- She was baptized/christened on 27 September 1823 in Machtolsheim, Württemberg.
- She was confirmed in 1837 at Machtolsheim, Württemberg.
- She married Fred Baumel? circa 1842.
- She applied in April 1851 in Blaubeuren, Württemberg, to emigrate.
- Barbara Walter departed from London, England, aboard the New York American Line merchant sailing ship Cornelius Grinnell. Also a passenger, listed in close proximity, was Christian Fink.
- Barbara Walter arrived in the Port of New York on 31 May 1851.
- Fred Baumel? and Barbara Walter appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, New York, enumerated just a few households from Barbara's sisters Anna Weiler and Lucy Stähle.
- Research Note: This marriage is not supported by any hard evidence, but the timing of her immigration and the presence of her three sisters in Niagara Falls in 1860 make a persuasive argument. Unfortunately, the notoriously inaccurate entries in the 1860 Niagara Falls census apparently leave us with a misspelled surname that has not been able to be researched further, or possibly one or both of the couple died between 1860 and 1870.
