he was her GRANDSON -- see 1900 census where she is 70 & he is identified as her son.

He was self-employed at farm work, according to the 1940 census.
At the time of his death Robert Mathis was living in Cuero, DeWitt County, Texas, at 214 Gonazles.

He was interred at Hillside Cemetery, Cuero, DeWitt County, Texas.
