• Granville DeMent and Anna (?), appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Clinton PO, DeWitt County, Texas, enumerated next to the household of Dock Davis, where Serilla's future husband William Davis was identified as William Washington (age 8) | Also in the household were daughters Susan Ann (age 4), George Ann (4) and Josephine (1). Other members of the household included Serilla Blackwell.
• Caroline appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Dewitt County, Texas. Other members of the household included Serilla Blackwell, Newton Blackwell and Edward Blackwell.
• She married William Davis, son of Dock Davis and Unknown (?), on 22 December 1880 in DeWitt County, Texas. At the time of her marriage, Serilla's surname was recorded as Taylor, indicating that apparenty she had an earlier marriage, although she is identified in the 1880 census as Rilla Blackwell..
• Serilla Blackwell became a widow at the between 1893 and 1900 death of her husband William Davis.
• Serilla Blackwell appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1900 in Gonzales County, Texas. Other members of the household included Dock Davis, Alex Davis, Nancy Davis, Amos Davis, Willie Davis, Newton Davis and Estella Davis. Serilla is identified as widow Sarilla Washington.
• She was a farmer, according to the 1900 census.
• Serilla Blackwell appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Texas in a suburb of Cuero city. She is identified as widow Syrilla Davis, age 40. Other members of the household included Nancy Davis and Estella Davis.
• She was working at odd jobs, according to the 1910 census.
• Serilla Blackwell died circa 1918 probably in Kleberg County, Texas.
• Research Note: Although in the 1880 census Rilla Blackwell is enumerated in DeWitt County in the household of Caroline Blackwell with Newton and Edward Blackwell, according to information found on the death certificate of her son Amos Davis, her name before marriage was Serilla Crawford. In 1870, Caroline Blackwell is enumerated in DeWitt County in the household of Jane Crawford (age 50) with six children, but daughter Serilla is found elsewhere in DeWitt County in the household of Granville and Anna DeMent, as Serilla Blackwell, age 11. Possibly Jane Crawford was the mother of Caroline Blackwell.
