- Ira Johnson and Serena Lambert appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Piney Fork Township, Lawrence County, Arkansas, enumerated next to the household of Alfred's future wife Mary Kent. Other members of the household included John W. Johnson, Council Johnson, Hiram McKenzie Johnson, Alfred T. Johnson, Joseph Johnson and Benjamin Franklin Johnson. Son Benjamin Franklin is identified as Doctor F. Johnson. Apparently also in the household were Elizabeth Clements (age 62), Levi (66) and Jane (55) Watson, and Mary Goodwin (16).
- Ira Johnson and Serena Lambert, appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Piney Fork Township, Sharp County, Arkansas, enumerated next to the household of their son Alfred. Other members of the household included John W. Johnson, Benjamin Franklin Johnson. Also in the household were Josephine Johnson (age 16) and Mary E. Johnson (13) who apparently were not in the household at the time of the 1860 census and have yet to be identified, possibly are granddaughters.
