  • He married Margaret Williams, daughter of Thomas J. Williams and Elizabeth J. Morris, on 5 June 1912 in Lead, Lawrence County, South Dakota, at South Mill Street, with Rev. G. H. Starring officiating.
  • The following appeared on 6 June 1912 in the Lead Daily Call: A very interesting wedding was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock on South Mill steet, at the home of the bride, Miss Margaret Williams. Don E. Slater was the fortunate groom. Rev. G. H. Starring performed the ceremony that made them one. Mrs. R. Pringle at the piano played the wedding march, two little girls carried flowers and the rign, and John C. Morris was the best man and Miss Ethel Gregory was the bridesmaid. The beautiful ring cervice was used, and union was sun consumated.
         The bride has been for several years the efficient clerk in Robert Pringle's store, and the groom, Don e. Slater has been the trusted engineer for sixteen years on the C. & N. W. R. R.
         A large number of friends and relatives from Rapid City, Belle Fourche and Terraville and Chadron, Neb. were present. Presents, too, were many and well chosen for the purpose intended. After the service the photographer was present and soon took with him a fine picture for his gallery and the homes that will receive them. Then came the bountiful dinner, complete with the best that skill could provide.
         The 5:30 train took the young couple on their honeymoon trip to the far east, into the great state of Vermont.
         We wish them a safe return, and a long, happy and useful life.
