- The following appeared on 19 January 2005 in The News-Sentinel: Louis F. Mayle, 94, of Indianapolis, formerly of Fort Wayne, departed this life Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, in 1933. In the 1940's he worked as an electrical engineer for Philo T. Farnsworth, television inventor, and later for Magnavox, retiring in 1975. Following his retirement, he assisted Magnavox as a mentor and consultant. During his tenure, he registered 31 electrical patents and in 1986, was awarded the citizen Engineer Award. He was a member of South Wayne Baptist Church, serving as treasurer for many years, the Magnavox Management Club and the Fort Wayne Engineers Club, where he served as treasurer for 14 years, and he was formerly the Secretary of I.E.E.E. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela A. Filson and Tamara A. Lieberman and their husbands; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Esther (Bishop) Mayle. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, Indianapolis, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment is 3 p.m. Friday at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
