- The following appeared on 17 June 1900 in The Illustrated Buffalo Express: Bethlehem Presbyterian Church was the scene of a pretty wedding at 8 o'clock on Thursday evening, when Miss Mary Mildred Pittman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kersey Pittman, was married to Mr. Melville Joseph Groh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Groh. the Rev. Frank B. Carlton performed the ceremony. The church was decorated with arches of daisies and an abundance of potted plants and cut flowers. After a brief organ recital the bridal party entered the church, led by the ushers, Mr. Warren J. Holden, Mr. Edward Watson, Mr. John Hamilton and Mr. Herschell Hatt. Miss Winifred Pittman, the maid of honor and sister of the bride, followed, wearing a gown of white organdie, trimmed with lace and carrying pink roses. The bride entered the church with her father and was met by the groom and his best man, Mr. Kenneth McDonald, at the altar. She wore a gray traveling gown with white hat and carried white roses. After the ceremony a small reception and supper for the bridal party and the two families were given at the bride's home, No. 326 Grant Street. Mr. and Mrs. Groh left town later for a wedding journey through Canada, and on their return will be at home at No. 220 Potomac Avenue.
