Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the former home with Rev. Walter H. Cutler officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, William; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Shouldice of Eden and two nieces.
Mrs. Staley was a resident of Eden all her life and was the last member of her family line. For 25 years she was head of the laundry in the Gowanda State Hospital, but was forced to retire on pension after her hand was mangled in a machine. - The following appeared on circa 28 November 1930 in the Erie County Independent: The undersigned will sell at public auction contents of household goods of the late Clara Staley at the residence, corner of Maple and Main Streets, Eden Center, Saturday, December 6, at 1:00 P. M. The goods consist of the following: good Amherst cook stove, burns coal or wood, side board, dining room table, six chairs, kitchen table, 2 rugs, rocking chairs, stands, wash tubs, wringer, couch, pictures, ice box, sewing machine, dishes, lawn mower, and other articles to numerous to mention. Shouldice; mother of Mrs. Frances M. Sweeney and Robert D. Shouldice of Eden and Glenn John Shouldice of West Falls, N.Y., and the late Howard G; also survived by 5 grandchildren. Funeral services from David C. Laing Funeral Home, West Church St., Eden, Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Friends invited. Interment at Eden, Evergreen Cemetery.
