  • The following appeared on 20 December 1915 in The Allentown Democrat: (Doylestown, Pa., Dec. 16) Sixty children, ranging in age from 1 to 8 years, were safely taken out of a burning dormitory of Christ's Home for Homeless and Destitute Children at Warminster, near here, today. The children were at dinner when fire was discovered in the basement. The older children were marched out while attendands with the help of some of the older boys and girls helped to carry out the babies.
         The interior of the building, which was recently constructed at an expense of $20,000, was badly damaged. The children were cared for in other buildings of the institution.
