- She married Manuel Lloyd Freese on 1 July 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at St. Joseph's chapel of the Holy Family Chuirch, with Bishop Kelley of the diocese of Oklahoma officiating.
- The following appeared on 18 February 1928 in The Bradford Era: A son was born Sunday, February 12th to Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Lloyd Freese in St. John's hospital, Tulsa, Okla. The mother was formerly Miss Dorothy Jane Markham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Markham, jr.
- The following appeared on 23 February 1933 in the McKean County Democrat: John H. Markham, 56, of Tulsa, Okla., husband of the former Maude Clayson, of Kane, died last Friday night in the Mercy hospital at Chicago following a brief illness of pneumonia, it was learned here.
Markham, a former Bradford resident, had been a leader in the American oil industry for the past thirty years. He was president of the Petroleum Corporation of America, a $1,000,000 investment trust.
With him when he died were his wife and three children.
The funeral was held Monday in Tulsa.
Mr. Markham was born in Karns City, near Oil City, coming to this county at an early age. He attended the Bradford schools. About 25 years ago he went into the West where he became eminently successful in the oil industry.
A member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Catholic church, Mr. Markham was widely known for his activity in the work of his church. He was one of 18 men to be received into knighthood in a National Council of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre at ceremonies held in St. Patrick's cathedral, New York City, in 1931.
Mr. Markham is survived by his wife, a son, John Henry Markham, III; a daughter, Miss Marjorie Markham, at home; another daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Freese, of Tulsa; six sisters, Miss Frances Markham, of New York City, Misses Lillian and Jane of Bradford; Mrs. Thomas Simpson, of Tulsa; Mrs. Winifred Washabaugh, of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. C. W. Updegrave, of Corry; two brothers, Walter Markham, of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert E. Markham, of Tulsa, Okla. One grandchild also survives. - Dorothy Jane Markham became a widow at the October 1969 death of her husband Manuel Lloyd Freese.
