- William A. Sutfin was born on 13 July 1905 in Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York.
- He married Marjorie Hollenbeck, daughter of Frederick James Hollenbeck and Lura May Muck, on 25 July 1942 in Hadley, Saratoga County, New York, at Lynwood Church.
- The following appeared on 28 July 1942 in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: A pretty wedding was solemnized Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in Lynwood Church, Hadley, when Miss Marjorie Hollenbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hollenbeck of Hollenbeck Road, Lockport, was united in marriage to William A. Sutfin of Ballston Spa.
. . . The bridesmaid, Miss Ruth Samuelson of Wilmette, Ill., college "big sister" of the bride, wore a gown of pink mousseline de soie and lace. She carried a pink gladioli.
The Rev. Paul Robinson of Forestville, was best man and ushers were Robert Sutfin, brother of the groom, and Percy Craig, the groom's brother-in-law.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Lyle C. Anderson of Northville, with whom Miss Hollenbeck has been associated in rural missionary work in the mountain communities outside Northville since her graduation from Wheator College in June, 1941.
. . . Mr. and Mrs. Stufin left for a week's trip to Schroon Lake. After August they will be at home on Martin Avenue, Ballston Spa.
Pre-nuptial affairs for the bride included a linen shower by mail, given by Mrs. Samuelson; three miscellaneous showers, given by Mrs. Warren Whipple of Northville, Mrs. Clyde Allport and Mrs. Loren Peters, cousins of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sutfin of Ballston Spa, parents of the groom.
A grocery shower was given by the Lynwood Sunday School; a bedroom shower by Mrs. Alvin Sand, aunt of the bride, of Raymond Hill; at the home of Harry Walters, a gift was presented by the Young People of the Calvary Baptist Church, Niagara Falls.
Guests were present from Lockport, Medina, Randolph, Broadalbin, Northville, Ballston Spa, Forestville and Wilmette. - The following appeared on 16 May 1944 in The Saratogian: (Ballston Spa) . . . - The following appeared on 23 July 1947 in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: (Dysinger) Joy Sutfin returned to her home at Ballston Spa after spending several weeks with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hollenbeck.
- William A. Sutfin died on 13 October 1967 at age 62 in Avoca, Steuben County, New York.
- Marjorie Hollenbeck became a widow at his death.
- He was interred at Ballston Spa Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York.
- The following appeared on 14 October 1967 in The Saratogian: (Ballston Spa) The Rev. William A. Sutfin, 62, a native of Ballston Spa, and former manager of the Saratogian, Balston Spa Bureau, died Friday at his home in Avoca where he resided for 12 years.
He operated the Sutfin Fuel and Appliance Business, was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church and served as justice of the peace in Avoca. Prior to leaving Ballston Spa he was the proprietor of Ashton Fuel Oil Company.
Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Sutfin of Avoca; three sons, the Rev. Terry Sutfin of Avoca, Allan Sutfin, a Purdue University student, and Hawley Sutfin, a student at Wheaton College; a daughter, Miss Joy Sutfin of Puyallup, Wash; a brother, Robert Sutfin of Ballston Spa; and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Shaver of Fla.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Avoca First Baptist Church and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ballston Spa Cemetery.
