Christina Arnold

b. July 1830, d. 30 March 1914
  • Christina Arnold was born in July 1830.
  • Christina Arnold arrived in the Port of New York on 9 June 1847, aboard the Brig Carolina, from Antwerp, Belgium.

  • The following appeared on 22 November 1901 in The Buffalo Courier: Mrs. Christina Hagerer, 65 years old, who lives alone in a house at Hamburg-on-the-Lake, was tortured by burglars in the most brutal manner last Wednesday night. Three desperate men bound her hand and foot and then held lighted matches to her feet, trying to force her to tell where she kept her money. Mrs. Hagerer is now in a serious state of collapse following the nervous shock and ill-treatment. The burglars are at large.
The robbers broke into the house about midnight and after searching and finding only a pieces of silverware, they entered the aged woman's room. She said she had no money, whereupon the robbers, it is said, beat her to unconsciousness and left her, still bound.
When Mrs. Hagerer recovered she managed to loosen her bonds and summon aid. Mrs. Hagerer has two daughters who live in Buffalo, Mrs. Fred Aue and Mrs. Edward Ritter. Yesterday they went to Hamburg-on-the-Lake to attend their mother.
