  • The following appeared on 5 January 1885 in the Lockport Daily Journal: On Saturday last, at her late residence on Spring street, occurred the death of Mrs. Ellen Baldwin, wife of Augustus M. Baldwin, in the 70th year of her age. Many will be pained to learn of the death of this very estimable woman who through the vicissitudes of a long and honored life has bound to her a large circle of friends. Mrs. Baldwin has been a resident of this city for the last 45 years, and was one of the early pioneers of this vicinity. She leaves besides her husband to mourn her loss, eight children. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Tuesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from Christ (Episcopal) Church. Interment at Cold Springs.
