• The following appeared on 5 April 1897 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Mrs. Barbara Engle, wife of Frank Engle of Whirlpool Avenue died on Saturday evening at 7:20 o'clock from paralysis. The deceased was 71 years old and had lived in this city for 40 years. She was well-known and had hosts of friends. She leaves a husband, but no children. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from the house and at 9:30 o'clock from the Church of the Sacred Heart.
