Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he moved to Bayonet Point in 1975 and in 1985 moved to Brevard, N.C., although he continued to be a winter resident here. He was a retired senior district executive for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Brevard-Davison River Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lynda L; two sons, Frederick John, Asheville, N.C., and Jeffrey Alan, New Port Richey; two stepsons, Aric Smith, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Robert Smith, Syracuse, N.Y; and eight grandchildren.
