Born March 10, 1920 in Chicago, IL to Alfred E. and Olga Lear Brandt he served in WWII as 1st Lieutenant, US Army Medical Services Corps, he received his BS in Business Administration with honors from Rutgers University and his MBA from New York University. Al retired from Western Electric after 41 years as a Wage & Salary Specialist in New York City and Greensboro, NC. During his life he gave back to his community and church by volunteering including Munroe Regional Medical Center. An accomplished tenor, he sang in the On Top of the World Chorus and church choirs. He was a Toastmaster, world traveler, square dancer, an avid bridge player and golfer. Alfred is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Jane Wilcox Brandt of Mount Dora, son Richard A. (Mary) of Fanwood, NJ, son Donald E. (Barbara) of Bridgeville, PA, daughter Jane A. Bowers (Douglas) of Murrells Inlet, SC, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, William E. (Helen) of Manahawkin, NJ and Robert F. (Louise) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth E. (Roberta) of Littleton, CO. A memorial service will be held at the Garden of Life Fellowship Hall, Waterman Village, Mount Dora, FL at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009. His ashes will be interred at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Roberts Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel, Ocala, Florida.
