- According to the Liberton Kirk Session records of 9 Aug 1702, David Balleny confessed that he with William Fergusson in Gilmertoun, James Hunter, Henry Dog in Neaton parish and James Pentland had a quart of ale in the time of the afternoon sermon. They were rebuked and William Ferguson, David Balleny and James Pentland referred to the Justices of peace and the other two to the Session at Neaton.
- He was a sponsor at the baptism/christening of Helen Adam on 25 April 1708 in Midlothian, Scotland; and Alexander Gray.
