- Tany Ann Hanes appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Grimes County, Texas. Other members of the household included Unknown (?), Cecelia H. Runnels, Unknown (?) and B. S. Whiting. The household is enumerated next to that of Cecelia's future husband's sister Thenny Haynie Whiting. It is possible that T. A. Hanes, Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Washington were sisters, posssibly Whitings. Also in the household is 2-year-old Hester Damm, whose immigrant German parents had died, leaving five children, each of whom was taken into a different home in Grimes County.
