  • The following appeared on circa 28 May 1929 in in an unknown newspaper: R. K. Blackshear, 53, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home here Monday. Mr. Blackshear was one of the men who owned and drilled the discovery well in the Corsicana-Powell oil field which came in Jan. 8, 1923, opening the deep oil field here. Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Miss Louise, Miss Elizabeth and Miss Mary Blackshear; a son, Bob, all of Corsicana, and a brother, Joe Blackshear of Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the home with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. F. P. Culver, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services.
