Erwin, Willis Eason Wood, Hannah Ross and Hannah Marguerite Wood.

  • The following appeared on 20 March 1953 in the Dallas Morning News: Hal Erwin, 50, veteral oil company employee and former Dallas resident, died in a Houston hospital Thursday of a cerebral hemorrhage after a two-day illness. He was born in Forney, Kaufman County, and moved to Dallas as a child. He was well known in oil business circles, having worked for the Atlantic Refining Company since 1934. In 1942 he was transferred from Dallas to San Antonio and he later became the company's district land man in Houston. His residence there was 4019 Sul Ross. Erwin was a member of the Garrett Masonic Lodge and of the Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Loftus of Dallas; his mother, Mrs. Laura Erwin of Dallas; a son and daughter, William Hal Erwin and Judith Marie Erwin of Houston; and three brothers, Tom Erwin and B. E. Erwin of Dallas and Ross Erwin of Rochester, N.Y. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Houston, with burial in that city.
