- Isaac McGary was born on 17 January 1800 in Butler County, Ohio.
- He married Elizabeth Brazelton Viser, daughter of William Viser and Rachel Brazelton, on 17 February 1842 in Montgomery County, Texas.
- Isaac McGary and Elizabeth Brazelton Viser appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas, living near the penitentiary.. Other members of the household included Marion McGary, Austin McGary, Rachel Frances McGary and Sarah Word.
- He was county clerk, according to the 1850 census.
- Isaac McGary became a widower at the 29 May 1853 death of his wife Elizabeth Brazelton Viser.
- Isaac McGary appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Corsicana PO, Navarro County, Texas, and Alabama-born "McCrory," age 22, who may well be the same person as Alabama-born "McCrary," age 21, found in the Van Hook household where Fannie is living.. Other members of the household included Charles Word.
- Isaac McGary died on 22 June 1866 at age 66 in Bolivar Point, Galveston County, Texas.
