  • The following appeared on 15 April 1925 in the Delta Courier: Mrs. Sarah V. Barrett passed away at the home of her son, H. F. Barrett in the Stewart addition last Saturday morning at an early hour. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Sunday at 4 PM, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. S. Dabney, after which the remains were laid to rest in Klondike Cemetery, by the side of her husband, who passed on 28 [sic] years ago. Deceased was born in Georgia [sic] June 30, 1853. She was married to H. W. Barrett in Arkansas in 1870. [sic] They moved to Fannin County in 1886 and after 8 years moved to Delta County and settled on a farm 3 miles north of Klondike. Her husband died in 1897 [sic]and a few years later she moved to Cooper with her family and purchased a home in the Stewart addition. Mrs. Barrett was a good woman, loved and respected by all who knew her. She is survived by seven children as follows: W. A. Barrett, Mrs. J. R. Wright, Mrs. Max Huffman, H. F. Barrett and Miss Debbie Barrett, all of Cooper and Mrs. E. M. Black of Race Track and L. L. Barrett of Cedar Creek.
