  • The following appeared on 9 July 1936 in The Houston Chronicle: (Navasota, July 8) Funeral services for Mrs. J. B. Hill, who died at her home near Anderson, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Anderson Baptist Church by Rev. J. E. Boulet. She was a daughter of a Grimes County pioneer, Gen. J. W. Barnes, who settled near Anderson in 1841. Surviving are the husband; a son, Allen Hill of Anderson, and a daughter, Mrs. V. V. Aerl of San Antonio.
