  • The following appeared on 30 August 1935 in The Dallas Morning News: (Mexia, Aug. 29) P. [sic] Whit Brodnax, 83, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jerry Ward, on a farm near Mexia. He had suffered a stroke of paralysis more than a year ago, and had been in ill health since. Born April [sic] 30, 1852, Mr. Brodnax lived in the vicinity sixty-two years. Surviving are four daughters and three sons. Mrs. M. E. Tucker of Mercedes, Mrs. Earl Sharpe of Watt, Mrs. Jerry Ward of Mexia, Mrs. T. Roy Leavell of Dallas, Bruce Brodnax of Palestine, White [sic] Brodnax Jr. of Mexia and Cox Brodnax of Mexia. Twenty-eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive.

  • The following appeared on 21 June 1949 in The Dallas Morning News: (Mexia, June 20) Funeral services were held Monday at his home near here for Whit Brodnax, 66, prominent farmer and cattleman. He died Saturday night after a heart attack. Burial was in Mexia Cemetery.
         Survivors include his wife, Ruby Brodnax; a son, Billy Whit Brodnax of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Nannie Peeples of Dallas and Mrs. Lillian Wallace of Austin; two brothers, Bruce and Cox W. Brodnax, both of Mexia; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Leavell of Dallas, Mrs. Annie Tucker, Mercedes, and Mrs. Mary Sharp, Axtel.
  • He was interred at Mexia City Cemetery, Mexia, Limestone County, Texas.
