Also in the household were four domestic servants, three female and one male. John A. Campbell also is enumerated in Baltimore with his wife and others of his family in 1870.

  • Ella S. Calvert appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1900 in Washington, District of Columbia, at 1712 N Street. Other members of the household included Charlotte Campbell, Ella Calvert Campbell. Also in the household were two female domestic servants.
  • The following appeared on 20 February 1902 in The Sun: (Washington, Feb. 19) Mrs. Ella Calvert Campbell, widow of Duncan G. Campbell and daughter of the late Mr. Charles Benedict Calvert, of Riverdale, Prince George's county, who died at her residence in Washington Monday morning, was buried this afternoon from Epiphany Church, Washington. She was born and reared at the historic old Calvert mansion, at Riverdale, and lived for a number of years at College Park, Md., on a large estate inherited by her from her father and afterward purchased and subdivided by Mr. John O. Johnson, of Washington. Since then she had resided in Washington. Mrs. Campbell was the sister of George W. Calvert, Sr., of College Park, and of Mr. Charles Baltimore Calvert, of MacAlpine. She leaves four children, as follows: Misses Ella and Lola Campbell, Mrs. Charles W. McPhee, of Georgetown, Del., and Mr. John A. Campbell.

  • Robert Edward Nelson and Charlotte Campbell appeared in the US federal census of 15 April 1910 in Washington, District of Columbia, at 2031 "O" Street. Other members of the household included Ella Calvert Nelson. Also in the household were two female domestic servants.
  • The following appeared on 19 September 1915 in The Washington Post: The premises, 1712 N street northwest, was sold by the owners, Mrs. Charlotte C. Nelson and Mrs. Ella C. Smyth, to James D. Maher, clerk to the United State Supreme Court. It is of three stories and contains ten rooms and two baths. Improvements are now being made. The price, it was said, was $12,000.
  • The following appeared on 30 December 1917 in The Washington Post: The marriage is announced of Mrs. Charles W. McFee, formerly Miss Anna Campbell, to Mr. William M. Ellicott, of Baltimore. The ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, at the residence of the bride's sister, Mrs. Robert E. Nelson, 1736 P street, and was performed by Father Buckey. Little Miss Ella Calvert Nelson was the bride's only attendant. Later Mr. and Mrs. Ellicott left to spend the winter in California.

  • Charlotte Campbell appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1930 in Washington, District of Columbia. Other members of the household included Ella Calvert Nelson.
  • Charlotte Campbell appeared in the US federal census of 1 April 1940 in Washington, District of Columbia.
  • Charlotte Campbell died on 17 April 1962 in Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, at Chestnut Lodge.
  • She was interred at St. Paul's Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, District of Columbia.
  • The following appeared on 17 April 1962 in The Evening Star: [Died] On Tuesday, April 17, 1962, at Chestnut Lodge, Rockville, Md., Charlotte Campbell Nelson, cousin of Dr. J. A. C. Colson of Johns Hopkins University, Mrs. William Ellis Coalle of Baltimore, Md; Mrs. Eliza Randall of Carmel, N. Y., and Charles Baltimore Calvert of Washington, D. C. Services will be held in the Bethlehem Chapel of the Washington Cathedral on Wednesday, April 18, at 12 noon. Interment Rock Creek Cemetery.
  • The following appeared on 18 April 1962 in The Virginian-Pilot: (Rockville, Md.) Charlotte Campbell Nelson, 99, who was born in Richmond during the Civil War, died Tuesday in Chestnut Lodge after a long illness.
         Mrs. Nelson was descended from two prominent Maryland families, the Calverts and the Campbells. The Calverts were direct descendants of Lord Baltimore, founder of Maryland.
         Mrs. Nelson's childhood was spent at the old Calvert plantation, Riversdale, now the town of Riverdale.
         Her grandfather, Charles Benedict Calvert, was one of the founders of Maryland Agricultural College, later the nucleus of the University of Maryland.
         Her other grandfather, John Archibald Campbell, was an associate justice of the Supreme Court until 1862, when he resigned to become assistant secretary of war in the Confederate cabinet of Jefferson Davis.
         Mrs. Nelson's husband, Robert E. Nelson, died 40 years ago. Her only child, Ella Calvert Nelson, died several years ago.
  • Memorial engraved stone at Washington National Cathedral: "In Memory of Three Daughters of Maryland / Anna Campbell Ellicott / Charlotte Campbell Nelson / Ell Campbell Smyth / Sisters and Companions Through Life."
