- The following appeared on 20 October 1932 in the Utica Daily Press: (Norwich, Oct. 19) Following a two year period of failing health, the death of Martin Devine, prominent business man of this city occurred at his home, 19 Sheldon Street, at an early hour Wednesday morning.
A lifelong resident of Norwich, he was born here March 19, 1867, the son of the late Patrick and Mary Byrne Devine.
From the point of service Mr. Devine was one of the oldest business men of Norwich. For more than a half a centure, 52 years, he has been engaged as a cigar manufacturer and for the past 38 years he has operated his own factory here. He held membership in the Cigar Makers' Union for 47 years.
Funeral services will be held from St. Paul's Church, 9:30 Friday morning. Besides his widow he leaves three sons, Edward F., and John R., Norwich, and Charles B., Brooklyn.
