  • The following appeared in The Chenango Union: Miss Dorothy Mae Owens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Paul Owens of South Plymouth, and Roland Elsworth English, son of Mrs. Genevieve English, Baltimore, were united in marriage Saturday, December 20, at the Lutheran Church in Baltimore. Dr. Lloyd Keller, pastor of the church, performed the double-ring ceremony, before the immediate family and close friends. [:CR;]      Miss Lucy Owens, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Russell English served his brother as best man. [:CR;]      After January 1 they will reside at 12737 St. Paul's Street, Baltimore. [:CR;]      The bride graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1940 and was employed in the Chenango County National Bank and Trust Company for about three years. During the war she served as a cadet nurse and is employed at present at the Electric and Gas Company, Baltimore. The groom served in the navy for about three years and now is a student at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.
  • The following appeared on 8 January 1955 in the Binghamton Press: (Norwich) J. Paul Owens, 59, supervisor of the Town of Plymouth, died yesterday in the Chenango Memorial Hospital here.
         Mr. Owens had been ill for several months and had been unable to attend the recent annual sessions of the board of Supervisors.
         He was born Aug. 2, 1895, in Plymouth, the son of John and Mary Tinker Owens and had spent most of his lifetime in Plymouth.
         He was a veteran of World War 1. Mr. Owens had been supervisor of this town for the last seven years, and prior to that had been town clerk for eight years.
         Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche Aldrich Owens; three sons, John J., Paul Jr., and David Owens, all of Plymouth; two daughters, Mrs. Roland English of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Gerald Davis of Mount Upton; four grandchildren; a brother, Frank Owens of Oxford; four sisters, Mrs. Oscar Randt of Smyrna, Mrs. Homer Browning of Oxford, Mrs. William Marks of Brisben, and Mrs. Leon Storrs af Plymouth, and several nieces and nephews.
         Funeral and committal services will be at the Breese Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Monday. The Rev. Thomas G. Swales, pastor of the Broad Street Methodist Church, will officiate. The body will be placed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery vault [sic].

English III; cherished grandmother of Tim, Josh, Allison, Sam, Jared, Adam, Matthew, Hannah, and Christine; great-grandmother of Owen, Ellyssa, Helen, and Harriet; sister of David Owens. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2 PM in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Eldersburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
