Mrs. Diehl was born in McClellanville, a daughter of the late Dr. Edward A. and Lucy Pegues McClellan. She was a graduate of McLeod School of Nursing. She was the first registered nurse employed by Sonoco Products Co., and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. - James Lineback Diehl became a widower at the 11 July 1972 death of his wife Absley G. McClellan.
