- Samuel Halley and Mary A. (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Clay Township, Bradley County, Arkansas. Other members of the household included Mordecai H. Halley. Also in the household were children John N. (age 21), Martha A. (17), Walter C. (13), Mary F. (11), Helen H. (9) and Samuel F. (7), and also Bruce A. (11) and Mary C. (8) Rothruck, likely children from Mary's earlier marriage.
