- William Moses was born circa 1868 in Texas.
- Wiley Moses and Eliza Bartley appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Madison County, Texas. Other members of the household included William Moses, Isabella Moses. Son William (age 1) is identified as W. Taylor Moses. In 1880, there are two Williams enumerated in the household, ages 12 and 6, and later records indicate that the younger was William Taylor Moses. Perhaps the elder William actually was deceased at the time of the 1880 census.
- Wiley Moses and Eliza Bartley appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Montgomery County, Texas. Other members of the household included William Moses, Isabella Moses, Annie Elizabeth Moses, William Taylor Moses, James Moses, Roberta Moses and Felix Moses. In view of the fact that there are two sons William in the household, ages 12 and 6, apparently both named "Wiliam Taylor Moses, it seems possible that the elder William actually was deceased at the time of the 1880 census.
