  • James Bishop Chambers was born on 6 January 1873 in Perry County, Alabama.
  • He married Lucie Tunstall Irby, daughter of Christopher Perry Irby and Mary Vernon Pegues, on 4 September 1904 in Marion, Perry County, Alabama, with Rev. McCann, of the Methodist Church, officiating.
  • The following appeared on 6 September 1904 in The Montgomery Advertiser: (Uniontown, Sept. 5) Last night at 9:15 o'clock, at the King House in Marion, Mr. James Bishop Chambers and Miss Lucy Tunstall Irby of this city, were married by Rev. McCann of the Methodist Church.
         There were present from this place Hon. J. B. Christian, Prof. A. M. Spesard, R. D. Hart and Miss Violet Mark and a few of Miss Irby's relatives in Marion.
         The bride is a fair specimen of the Canebrake belles, beautiful, lovely, accomplished and a universal favorite. Mr. Chambers is equally a favorite in the community and one of our most prosperous young merchants.
         There were no parental objections to the marriage, but the young couple took this means of having a quiet marriage. They will return home tomorrow.

  • The following appeared in a local newspaper: (Uniontown, Ala., Feb. 6) Funeral services for James Bishop Chambers, 59, who died of heart failure while hunting with some friends near here, were held Saturday afternoon from the residence here. [:CR;]      Interment was in the Uniontown Cemetery, with Foster Funeral Home of Tuscaloosa in charge. Rev. O. D. Lasadon officiated at the services Saturday. The deceased is survived by his widow. He had lived in Uniontown all his life.
