  • The following appeared on 13 September 1926 in The Dallas Morning News: Funeral services for Alex P. Pegues, 52, who died suddenly at his home, 121 South Marlborough avenue, Saturday afternoon, will be held at the residence at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon, with the Rev. W. O. Barnett, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Cliff Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be M. T. Borwn, Carey King, A. G. Moore, C. H. Yeager, Hal Ferris and C. H. Schutte. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis S. Turley, Henry Tanner, Charles Gunning and Sam Duncan.
         Mr. Pegues was formerly Chief of Police in Highland Park and also was for several years on the Dallas detective force. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie Pegues, two sons, Alex P. Jr. and James H. Pegues; five brothers, O. T., Perry, P. A. Pegues, Dallas; Mack Pegues, Fort Worth, and John A. Pegues, San Antonio, and two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Holt, McAllen, and Mrs. J. L. Stedman, San Antonio.
