  • Marietta Louise Chapin was born on 28 April 1894 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
  • The following appeared on 25 January 1916 in The New York Times: The plans for the wedding of Miss Marietta L. Chapin, the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon B. Chapin, and Harold Hartshorne, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mott Hartshorne, have been completed. The wedding will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 4:30 o'clock, in the Collegiate Church of St. Nicholas, Forty-eighth Street and Fifth Avenue.
         Miss Chapin will have her sister, Miss Elizabeth M. Chapin, as her maid of honor, and the bridesmaids selected are the Misses Eleanor Hartshorne, a sister of the bridegroom; Anna and Frances Ballard, Eunice Clapp, and Emmalena Sizer, all of New York, and Alice Silverthorne of Chicago. Mr. Hartshorne's best man will be Drayton Burrill, Jr., and the ushers are to be Lester Armour, F. Hamilton Dyckman, Henry P. Elliott, Truman P. Handy, John C. Hughes, John B. Marsh, and John Nobles Stearns, Jr. Mr. Hartshorne will give his bachelor dinner at the Union Club on Saturday evening, Feb. 19.
         Mrs. James Mott Hartshorne will give a reception of Feb. 4 at 4 o'clock for Miss Chapin, which will be followed by dancing, in the new Colony Club.

Burial at Greenwich [sic] Cemetery.
