  • The following appeared on 20 May 1918 in The Corsicana Daily Sun: R. B. Orme of Frost has received word that his son, Bob Orme, who is a member of the American Expecitionary Forces in France, has been awarded a War Cross by the French Government for gallantry in action.
         Young Orme is only twenty [sic] years of age and has been in France almost a year.
         The information was contained in a letter to his father, and also a newspaper clipping from a French newspaper praising the young man for his coolness and bravery. While details are lacking, it i9s known that he led a patrol into No Man's Land and repulsed and killed a number of Germans, thus winning the coveted medal.
  • He married Mary Katharine Wood, daughter of Bonnie Griffin Wood and Annie Elizabeth Monk.
