Mrs. Hudson was born in Richmond, Virginia October 20, 1927. Her parents were Thomas Davenport Wright and Claudia Lewis Wright. She graduated from the Knox School in Cooperstown, N.Y. and Finch College in New York, N.Y.
Mrs. Hudson was an avid equestrian and fox hunter. She also enjoyed portrait painting and entertaining friends. Mrs. Hudson maintained a family cottage on Mt. Desert Island in Maine and was a beloved member of the summer community there. Until 2003, Mrs. Hudson was a lifelong resident of Durham, North Carolina.
Meriwether Hudson was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Her sweet happy demeanor and caring personality will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She brought extraordinary joy, warmth and happiness to her many friends and relatives.She is survived by her children, Robert Lamar Hardy Jr., Meriwether Hudson Morris, and William Baskerville Lewis Hudson, and also by her siblings Thomas Davenport Wright Jr., Claudia Wright Elliman, Richard Harvey Wright III and Elizabeth Wright Dicconson. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at the Duke University Chapel in Durham, North Carolina on Tuesday January 6 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Visitation at Mrs. Hudson's house in Durham - Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
