  • He married Alma Newell DeArman, daughter of James Tipton DeArman and Eva Borders Elston, on 23 January 1884 in DeArmanville, Calhoun County, Alabama.
  • The following appeared on 2 February 1884 in The Jacksonville Republican: Married, at DeArmanville on Jan. 23rd by Elder J.A. Scott, Willie C. Borders and Miss Alma DeArman, daughter of J.T. DeArman. They boarded the train the next day for Texas, proposing to make it their future home.
  • William C. Borders became a widower at the 11 June 1891 death of his wife Alma Newell DeArman.
  • William C. Borders died on 26 April 1942 at age 83 in Oxford, Calhoun County, Alabama, at 430 Snow Street at his residence.
  • He was interred at DeArmanville Methodist Church Cemetery, DeArmanville, Calhoun County, Alabama.
  • The following appeared on 27 April 1942 in The Anniston Star: William C. Borders, age 83, retired Oxford Chief of Police and prominent citizen of that town for many years, died . . . at his residence. . . . Mr. Borders was a member of a well known Calhoun family. A nephew Bill Borders is county sheriff at present time. Funeral at Oxford First Methodist Church; interment in DeArmanville Cemetery. Survivors: widow of Oxford; one son S. J. Borders, DeArmanville; daughters Sadie Cheatwood, DeArmanville; Alma Borders, Oxford; Catherine Borders, Oxford; two brothers A. H. and R. L. Borders.
