John H. Abercrombie

b. circa 1836
  • John H. Abercrombie was born circa 1836 in Alabama.
  • It appears to be a resaonable assumption that John H. Abercrombie and John E. Abercrombie are the same person, based on significant circumstantial evidence, but lacking 1860 and 1870 census or other verifying information, it cannot be a certainty.
  • He married Satsy Ann Simmons, daughter of John Simmons and Unknown (?), on 17 April 1856 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. by license issued the 14th, with Wm Lancaster, JP (who also served as bondsman), officiating. Names on the certificates: John H. Abacrumby and Stasy Ann Simmons..
  • While it appears that John and Satsy Abercrombie must have been in Alabama at the time of the 1860 census, and until about 1865, based on where they were married and the apparent birthplaces of two of their children, they have not yet been found in the 1860 census.
  • While it appears that John and Satsy Abercrombie must have been in Louisiana from about 1865, based on the apparent birthplaces of four of their children, they have not yet been found in the 1870 census.
  • John H. Abercrombie and Satsy Ann Simmons appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. Other members of the household included William B. Abercrombie, James Holman Abercrombie, Theodocia E. Abercrombie, Lulu D. Abercrombie, Edmond Greenwood Abercrombie, Adolphus A. Abercrombie, Catie M. Abercrombie, Beula A. Abercrombie, Alexander H.
