- Susan Jessie Gregg became a widow at the 2 November 1931 death of her husband Joseph Edward Stovall Jr.
- Susan Jessie Gregg died on 27 April 1970 in Henderson, Rusk County, Texas, at Henderson Memorial Hospital . Informant was J. E. Stovall.

- The following appeared in a local newspaper: Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Jessie Stovall, 81 of Lufkin, Texas were held today at 1 p.m. in Metcalf Chapel of the Pines, and burial followed in Union Grove Cemetery (Pool Cemetery).
Mrs. Stovall was a native of Montgomery County, and died Monday in Henderson, Texas. She was a member of the Baptist Church, and a former resident of Montgomery County, but had been living in the Lufkin area for the past 14 years.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Lola Carter of Houston, Mrs. V. R. Cayton of Galena Park, Mrs. Jessie J. Foster of Lufkin and Mrs. Helen Hayes of Kilgore; one son, Jack Stovall of Livingston; 20 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Stovall was born 24 Oct 1888 in Richards, Texas and died 27 April 1970. Her husband was Joseph Edward Stovall, who died 1931.
