  • The following appeared on 19 March 2003 in the Athens Banner-Herald: Annie Ruth Irvin went home to be with her Lord on March 17, 2003. She was born in Jackson County, Georgia, on January 19, 1913, the daughter of George Norman and Cora Brown Breazeale. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Green Acres Baptist Church since 1963.
         Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, with Revs. Don Leaptrott and Fred Rowell officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
         Mrs. Irvin was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edgar Irvin, in 1978. She enjoyed a full, happy life and took great pride in reaching the milestone of her 90th birthday in January 2003.
         Survivors include son, Dr. T. Rick Irvin, Athens; daughter and son-in-law Janice and Barry Still, Denver, NC; grandchildren, Tracy and Will Bates of Huntersville, NC, and Tommy and Saralyn Still of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandchildren Kenon and Karley Bates of Huntersville, NC.
         Mrs. Irvin is survived by a brother, Harry Breazeale, Decatur, GA, sisters Thelma Sampoyna, Lehigh Acres, FL, and Mary Ramsey of Helendale, CA. She was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer and Charlie Breazeale and sister, Louise Hutson. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Lord and Stephens, East.
         In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be forwarded in remembrance of Annie Ruth Irvin to Green Acres Baptist Church, 2085 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, GA 30605.
         The Irvin family extends a special word of appreciation to Dr. Charles Braucher, Elaine Gunter, and Rebecca Crimmins, all of Athens, for their loving concern and wonderful support to Mrs. Irvin and her family. They also thank Teresa Williams, Kim Dillon, the nurses and staff of Athens Regional Medical Center, and the members of Green Acres Baptist Church for their assistance to Mrs. Irvin and the Irvin family during her illness.
