  • Charles Edward Chambers and Estelle McGar appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas. Other members of the household included Isabel Chambers. Also in the household was one famale domestic servant.
  • He was a farmer, according to the 1870 census.
  • The following appeared on 15 February 1871 in The Union Republican: Notice, No. 559. The State of Texas.--To all persons interested in the estate of Thomas Carothers, dec'd. [:CR;]      J. P. Nixon Administrator debonis non cum testamento annexo of the estate of Thomas Carothers deceased, has filed his account as administrator aforesaid, in the District Court of Walker County, which will be acted on at the next term of said Court, commencing at the court house thereof in the town of Huntsville on the 4th Monday in March A.D. 1871, at which all persons interested in said estate may appear, and make objections thereto. . . .   • The following appeared on 1 October 1874 in The Galveston Daily News: (Huntsville, Sept. 30) Last evening the citizens of Huntsville met in convention to nominate candidates to fill the vacancies in the city government, resulting in the nomination of Col. C. E. Chambers for Mayor, and Messrs. A. T. McKinney and J. M. Rountree for Aldermen.
  • The following appeared on 17 April 1875 in The Galveston Daily News: (Huntsville, April 16) At the election, yesterday, the Democrats were victorious. Col. C. E. Chambers was elected Mayor of Huntsville, and J. M. Rountree County Treasurer.
  • Charles Edward Chambers died circa 1878.
  • His wife Estelle McGar became a widow at his death.
  • According to one undocumented source, he was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Huntsville.
